Log in to PEP (FIRST TIME)

• Create an OWL Account
• Log in
• Join the PEP Site
• Submit the One-Time PEP Questionnaire
• Using PEP

After these steps have been completed, you can enter the modules at any time and as many times as you wish (click the Enter Modules button on the navigation bar).

Log in to PEP (FIRST TIME)

PEP uses Western's OWL learning management system and you need to have either a Western account or an OWL account to access it. The starting point for everyone is PEP Gateway page.

Select one of the two options on the page for accessing PEP and follow the instructions The options are: 1) either you need to create a new OWL account, or 2) you already have an OWL or Western account. More information about what is a Western account or an OWL account can be found here. If you already have an OWL or Western account, then skip the following section and go to section "Join the PEP Site".

Create an OWL Account

If you don't have an OWL account or a Western account, Click "Request Account" on the left. You will see the following page.

• Enter your email address and click Request Account. This email address will be your PEP user id for logging in.

• An email message will be sent to this email address with further instructions. Check your e-mail and click on the link "Accept this invitation" in the message. The subject of the message will be "Welcome to OWL!" and it will be from "owl-support@uwo.ca".

• Clicking on the link will display a registration page in your web browser. Fill in your first and last name, and choose a password to use. OWL Password rules

Log In

• After you submit the Request Account form, the OWL Gateway page will be displayed (see below). Enter your new user id and password in the boxes at the top right of the page and click the Login button to log in.

  OR

• If you already have an OWL or Western account, choose the second option on the PEP Gateway Page "Proceed to the PEP site and log in". You will get a log in page. Enter your use id and password and click Login.

Join the PEP Site

At the PEP Home page, click "Join Site" at the left. Notice that the module links are greyed-out (i.e. not available) until you join the site.

Once you have joined the PEP site, it will always be available when you log in. Below is the Table of Contents of Module 1 after joining the PEP site.

Submit the One-Time PEP Questionnaire

• After you have joined the PEP site, you can click on any of the module links. However, you need to complete and submit a one-time PEP Questionnaire before you can view the content. This only needs to be done once. Afterwards, you can go directly to any module content. The link to the "First Time Only Questionnaire" will have a checkmark icon beside it if it has already been submitted.

• The following shows the step for submitting the PEP questionnaire. The steps also apply to any quiz/assessment that you do in OWL. After clicking "One Time PEP Questionnaire", you will see the following page.

Using PEP

After completing the initial registration steps above, you can now use the modules anytime. (See the Enter Modules page). Then from the PEP Gateway page, select option 2) and click the link at "Proceed to PEP site to log in". You will get the Login page, and after logging in, you will be at the PEP Home page.
